General Accounting-Management Advisory-Taxation-Auditing

Tony Starace, C.P.A. obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Florida State University.  While he attended an additional year of classes at FSU, working toward his eligibility requirements for the CPA exam, he began his professional career with a small accounting firm located in Tallahassee.  He was employed by Mayo & Company, CPA's for six years, where his responsibilities included planning and conducting audits for non-profit organizations, compiling and reviewing client's financial statements, and conducting research of accounting and tax authoritative pronouncements.  Additional responsibilities included training and supervising the clerical and bookkeeping staff.

 Tony started his own accounting practice in 1992, which has provided him with invaluable experience in small business concerns because his own practice is a small family business.  Over the past ten years, he has established a client base of small businesses as well as continuing to work with the same non-profit organizations he worked with at the previous firm.  Individual and corporate tax returns continue to be an area of growth for the firm.

 Continuing education for CPA's is required and Tony focuses on classes and seminars to expand his expertise in areas that are beneficial to his clients.  For example, he recently completed a course on strategic planning for small businesses.  Currently, he subscribes to the Non-Profit Report, Journal of Accountancy, and The Practical Accountant, which keeps him informed of the most recent rules and regulations affecting non-profit organizations and small businesses.
